Karla: I’m a sucker for peanut m&m’s, schnauzers, northern Wisconsin and Matt. Blessed with two amazing parents (Karl and Monika), I am an only child who counts my closest friends as the siblings I never had. I grew up in LaGrange, Illinois and went to Lyons Township High School where I played basketball and volleyball. After high school I went to Valparaiso University, majored in Public Relations, minored in Spanish and became a member of the national sorority, Kappa Delta. Not quite done with school yet, I enrolled at DePaul University for my M.A. in Public Relations and Advertising.
Today, I’m a content developer for social media and web pages at Concordia University Chicago. For fun I’m either coaching basketball, gardening, refinishing furniture, reading, cooking and/or baking and probably five other things. Maintaining a strong basis for Chicago as the best city in the world, I love going downtown for concerts, theatre performances, trying out different breweries and exploring different neighborhoods with Matt.
Matt: is not a sucker for peanut M&M’s but I will never pass on grilling. Seriously, I will grill in -10 degree weather, while snowing, up hill…you get the idea. Besides grilling, I enjoy running, hiking, cycling, skiing, snowshoeing, woodworking, and making Karla smile.
Born and raised in…well born in Michigan (Go Blue!), lived in: Ohio (Go Blue!), Indiana, North Carolina, and currently reside in Illinois. My lovely parents (Mark & Donna) squeezed me in between my beautiful sisters Andrea and Bethany. I went to the proper LTHS (Lockport Township High School) where I ran cross country and track. By means of a broken leg my senior year in track I ended up attending Concordia University River Forest where I majored in Computer Information Science, and haven’t really left. I am currently the Systems Manager for Concordia, overseeing portions of the IT infrastructure and security and whatever fun comes up each day.
